Alberto is an expert in the design & operation of food processing plants for perishables; food safety & agricultural certifications; and in management of retail operations and supply chains. Over his career, he has focused on helping retailers, restaurant chains, food processors, and farmer groups in emerging markets improve product quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with international food safety standards.
Across Latin America, he has handled the design, procurement, and management of processing plants for the meat and poultry sectors. He has overseen the entire domestic and international logistics network for retailers—for both fresh produce and animal proteins. Additionally, he advises leading multinational off-takers on their food safety protocols and supplier development programs. He also consults for suppliers to ensure compliance with those protocols and their reporting requirements.
Alberto is passionate about supplier development programs, CSR initiatives, and agricultural extensions services that help rural communities improve their linkages to formal value chains, their skill set, and their livelihoods.
Alberto has a M.Sc. in food engineering from the University of Reading, and is an experienced third-party consultant and trainer for food safety, process management for food business operators.
